Do you want Christmas trees that will swoon your guests this year? Then decorating your tree with ribbon is the easiest way to achieve this. You will add a wow factor to your tree, which is easier than you think.
Putting Ribbon on Your Christmas Trees
There are many ways you can decorate Christmas trees using ribbon. Yet, choosing the right one is the tricky part. You find different decorating styles, and it becomes easier once you know your vision and which one to use. We recommend experimenting to achieve the best results.
Furthermore, as the ribbon is expensive, it helps to use less, and you can follow these tips:
- Never use ribbon straight from your roll and cut them into pieces. Depending on the size of the tree and style, we recommend cutting three to five feet pieces.
- When the back of your tree is hidden, never work around the whole tree using the ribbon.
- When you bounce smaller pieces, illusions create more while you use less.
The Main Ribbon Styles
You have different design styles to use your ribbon, as seen here:
- Use a vertical placement by starting from the top and working straight down around your tree.
- Using pieces around your tree at regular intervals, you can use a diagonal placement to create diagonal stripes.
- Lastly, you have the haphazard placement by taking pieces of ribbon to tuck them in and out of your tree to face different directions. It gives your tree an organic look without the regular lines. For this technique, using a mesh ribbon is ideal.
Buying the Right Ribbon
No matter what ribbon you buy, it is expensive, whether wired or not. Yet, the wired ribbon can hold shape well, while a non-wired one creates a flow the old-fashioned way. So we recommend using both if you can.
Then you have a mesh ribbon that allows the light of your tree to shine through it. Next, you have your solid colored ribbon to add texture, or you can choose one with patterns. Lastly, you use the bouncing technique by tucking your ribbon, then bouncing some of it over the branches, folding again, and continuing to create a bouncing effect.
Using the Organic Technique
Compared to bouncing, if you prefer, you can use the organic method that involves less tucking with a more casual laying of your ribbon across your tree. The ribbon flows naturally over all the branches. For a more natural feel, you can turn the ribbon to form a curl that gives a three-dimensional look.
End Off With Some Bows
Another fabulous thing for decorating Christmas trees using ribbon is to add some bows. Of course, you can use less ribbon with bows, covering your whole tree. Still, you can find many bow styles, and best to play around with them.
Some examples of bows are the simple old-fashioned bow. The bow works similar to tying shoe laces. It works great using a delicate ¼-inch ribbon in the color you choose. You can then place the bow on the tips of the branches.
